To get my feet wet with Kaggle, I completed the Titanic Machine Learning Survival Predictor challenge, where I finished in the top 40%. For the past year, I have been a part of the Computational Creativity research group at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln under the guidance of Dr. Soh Leen-Kiat. As a group, we take special interest in student behavior and its implications on learning motivation and ability. Our ultimate goal is to be able to provide targeted intervention for students in need based on the textual data we collect from their responses to Creative Thinking exercises. As my first PHP MVC web application project, I have decided to build a financial tracker to help keep track of user spending. Ultimate functionality is yet to be decided but I would like to accomplish a few goals in this project at the very minimum. First, I would like to implement an MVC architecture-styled application. Second, I would like to integrate member profiles to gain experience with databases, cookies, and sessions. Lastly, I would like to implement data visualization using D3.js and potentially integrate some machine learning analyses on the collected data. Keep up with my progress on Github .
